New leaks arrive around the GPU family NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40indicating that the high-end model, based on the graphics chip NVIDIA AD102consume no less than 800W of powerand that would open the doors to custom models with factory overclocking to approach the barrier of 1000W consumption. Unfortunately, it’s unclear which GPU would consume such a large amount of power, although the bets are simple: the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090and its variant for professional use, a possible NVIDIA TITAN.
While the AD102 will offer 18432 CUDA coresbelow we will have the NVIDIA AD103, which with 10752 CUDA cores would give life to a GeForce RTX 4080 with a power consumption of 450Wwhile its laptop version would consume 175W. This is the same consumption as the GeForce RTX 4070 will consume for laptops with 7680 CUDA coreswhile desktop version will consume 400W.
Finally, it is indicated that the NVIDIA AD106 graphics chip, which would bring to life the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 with 4608 CUDA coreswill consume 260W of energy in its desktop version and 140W in its version for laptops.
These increases in consumption should really come as no surprise to anyone, as this is the new PCI-Express 5.0 slotcapable of delivering up to 600W of power through a single connector, and of course it has already been said that power supplies more than 1000W of energy will be the new requirement for a gaming PC new generation, since AMD and Intel processors will also increase their power consumption seeking to offer greater performance gains.
