This time we are debating between the potency that tendrán los nuevos Core 13 y los también nuevos Ryzen 7000. Que si frecuencia para arriba, núcleo e IPC para abajo… RAM memory. And here it’s not just news, it’s that in the case of AMD they are releasing a new IO Die made by TSMC at 6nm and of which nothing is known at the moment… Until today, because we have the first capture of a Ryzen 7000 with very high frequency DDR5, 6400 MHz, but curiously it would be low overclock.
DDR5 wreaks havoc on both price and performance, and we’ve only just started its lifespan with it. Well, after Core 12 Alder Lake data everywhere and Core 13 promises and rumors, a famous overclocker has leaked data on what we understand to be a platform AMD Zen 5where the data doesn’t look as good as expected.
AMD behind Intel in RAM? The Ryzen 7000s reach DDR5-6400
Well, if what we see in the image above is true and we are talking about Lisa Su’s BMI limit, the red society has a little problem. What is shown is a screenshot of CPU-Z with 64GB of DDR5 RAM running at 3202.7MHzor what is the same, 6400 MHz or MT/swhatever you want to call it according to your tastes.
The divider is nothing less than 1:32, which really should give a true 1:2 ratio, so it looks like AMD won’t be able to achieve the desired 1:1 ratio with these Ryzen 7000s at this described frequency. Curiously, the latencies are the least important, since we observe a 32-38-38-96-134 without being a marvel, they indicate that the timings have been tightened a little, proof that the limit is once again in the IMC and not in the memory chips.
The starting point of each memory controller goes back
The reality is that both Intel and AMD are doing their best at this point knowing that now RAM can determine the performance of their processors and therefore increasing the frequency of the memory controller is essential for that wealthy users can access high-speed RAM modules. thanks to a superior JEDEC set by both companies.
In these cases, AMD and Intel will start with the Ryzen 7000 and Core 13 in DDR5-5600a substantial increase considering that the current Core 12’s starting point is 4,800 MHz.
Therefore, and in summary, what we see is the platform’s first overclock in terms of RAM memory with a Ryzen 7000, something that has already been confirmed and if so, it’s a problem for AMD, because Intel with the i9-12900K already matches this value with overclock. Therefore, the only question we are left with is whether, indeed, this is the limit of the current IO Die and BMI of the Ryzen 7000 with DDR5-6400, or if, on the contrary, we can squeeze some more, either through firmware, voltage or extreme cooling, because anyway Intel will raise the bar given the previous data with the Core 13 in terms of overclocking.
