silicon power announced the launch of its first kit DDR5 memory in SO-DIMM format for ultra-compact laptops and desktops. For the moment it offers only one kit of 32 GB capacity composed of two 16 GB modules that operate at a frequency of 4800MHz@1.1vwhich means a 50% increase in frequencies compared to standard DDR4 @ 3200 MHz, which also consumes more power when operating at 1.2v.
Obviously, don’t expect details around their prices.
Even more reasons to upgrade
- Double memory capacity compared to DDR4 (from 16 GB to 32 GB) for smooth multitasking
- Superior reliability compared to DDR4 with on-chip error-correcting code (ECC)
- Optimized efficiency with two independent 32-bit channels per module
- High compute performance with twice the banks and twice the burst length compared to DDR4
