This announcement comes just on the occasion of World Environment Day.
Razer has gone through this certification process to assure consumers and fans that its best-selling mice meet the industry’s highest environmental performance standards. The ECOLOGO® label logo signifies that the products have been evaluated by an independent, scientific third-party organization and comply with Razer’s goals of transparency with the community.
The fact that Razer has the first ECOLOGO-certified gaming mice is a tribute to the brand’s commitment to making products greener, which is also an important pillar of its 10-year sustainability plan under the name #GoGreenWithRazer.
Razer chose these mice not only because they’re bestsellers, but also because they’re more accessible by allowing gamers to make choices based on durability. To certify both products with the ECOLOGO® label, UL analyzed several sustainability criteria. They tested the mice for compliance with EU Restricted Chemicals regulations, as well as skin irritation and sensitization. UL also evaluated Razer’s repair and replacement management process, from the ease of product disassembly by authorized service providers to how Razer communicates components requiring selective waste disposal to service provider departments.
Sustainable packaging is another criteria the mice met, as they are packaged with FSC-certified materials that are free of heavy metals and chlorine, and printed with sustainable soy ink so they can be easily recycled.
Finally, UL also inspected Razer’s facilities to certify that the mice were manufactured in facilities committed to responsible environmental management, as evidenced by ISO 14001 certification.
