Netflix partners with Microsoft to bring advertising to its platform

Netflix and Microsoft announced on their official blogs a collaboration agreement related to the future of the streaming platform. As the title already suggests, it’s all about advertisingand it must be remembered that Netflix announced that in the future a new cheaper subscription plan which will be supported by an advertising system integrated into your platform.

Knowing that sharing your Netflix account will be a thing of the past (or more expensive), the company hopes this new subscription service will catch the attention of everyone who has shared an account and that they will stop using the platform once your subscription becomes more expensiveI’m missing a “gap” in the account, in addition to making an additional payment to be able to share it.

“In April, we announced that we would be introducing a new subscription plan with advertising at a reduced price for consumers, in addition to our current basic, standard and premium plans without advertising. Today, we are pleased to announce that we have chosen Microsoft as our global advertising and sales technology partner,” Netflix said on its official website.

“Microsoft has the proven ability to support all of our advertising needs as we work together to create a new ad-supported offering. Most importantly, Microsoft has provided the flexibility to innovate over time in both technology and sales, as well as strong confidentiality protection for our members.

It’s very early and we have a lot to work on. But our long-term goal is clear. More choice for consumers and a more than linear TV brand experience for advertisers. We are excited to work with Microsoft to bring this new service to life.

“We are thrilled to have been named Netflix’s technology and business partner to help power its first ad-supported subscription offering,” Microsoft revealed on its official blog.

“At launch, consumers will have more options for accessing Netflix’s award-winning content. Marketers who turn to Microsoft for their advertising needs will have access to Netflix’s audience and premium connected TV inventory. All ads running on Netflix will be available exclusively through Microsoft. Today’s announcement also supports Microsoft’s approach to privacy, which is based on protecting customer information.
