netflix announced the launch of a mobile game and a television series based on the popular card game Exploding Kittens. On the one hand we have the Explosive Kittens – The Game, a mobile exclusive version of the game, which will be released on Netflix in May. Following the game, an adult animated comedy series starring Tom Ellis (Rush, Lucifer) will launch in 2023.
In the animated series, titled Exploding Kittens, the eternal conflict between Heaven and Hell reaches epic proportions when God and the Devil are sent to Earth in the bodies of burly domestic cats. The series is the work of directors Shane Kosakowski and Matthew Inman; executive producers Mike Judge, Greg Daniels and Dustin Davis of Bandera Entertainment; executive producers Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping of Chernin Entertainment Group; and executive producers and creators of the Exploding Kittens franchise, Elan Lee and Inman of The Oatmeal.
Explosive Kittens – The Game It retains the same classic gameplay where players draw cards in order to avoid Explosive Kitten. Additionally, fans will enjoy two exclusive new cards: Radar, which reveals to players the position of the explosive kitten closest to the top of the deck of cards, and Flip Flop, which reverses the order of cards in the deck. Game maps and mechanics will be themed around the animated series so friends and families can play with their favorite characters and bring the series to life. With single and multiplayer options, the game will be available to Netflix members at no additional cost or in-app purchases.
