Intel Foundry Services now lets you design chips from the cloud

Intel Foundry Services (IFS) announced a new phase of its Accelerator Ecosystem Program, which results in IFS Cloud Alliance. Essentially, the company will allow its partners design your chips securely from the cloudwhich will improve the efficiency of customer’s molding design and accelerate time to market by harnessing the power of massive on-demand computing.

Initial program members include major cloud providers Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azureas well as key players in Electronic Design Automation (EDA).

How it works: Through the Cloud Alliance, IFS will work with partners to ensure EDA tools are optimized to take advantage of cloud scalability while meeting Intel’s Process Design Kit (PDK) requirements. This will provide customers with a secure and scalable path to adopt their preferred EDA tools and workflows into the cloud environment, through partnerships with leading EDA vendors Ansys, Cadence, Siemens EDA and Synopsys. The result will be on-demand hardware on a foundry platform, allowing designers to handle larger workloads with better resource management, faster time to market, and higher quality output.
