HDPLEX 250W GaN, the smallest ATX source in the world

HDPLEXcreator of passive chassis and ultra-compact power supplies, announced what would be the smallest ATX power supply in the world, with a power of 250W and refrigeration passive. To achieve this, technology was used. GaN (Gallium Nitride) and efficient structure LLC + CFP high efficiency.

This new font, with a name as long as: 250W HDPLEX Passive All-in-One ATX; has come to revolutionize once again the niche market of SFF PC (Small Form Factor PC) and HTPC (home theater PC). It is not for less, given the trajectory of the company in this sector, creating nanoATX, AC-DC and DC-ATX until 800Win addition to several pc cases totally passive and compact.

Going back to the source of the news, the new HDPLEX 250W GaN has some measures of 170mm x 50mm x 25mma very small size compared to other types of fonts available on PC such as:

  • ATX: 150 x 140 x 86mm
  • SFX: 125 x 100 x 63.5mm
  • SFX-L: 125 x 130 x 63.5mm
  • FlexATX: 150 x 81.5 x 40.5mm
  • TFX: 175 x 85 x 65mm

This would leave us with a source which is 3 times less width and height only one source ATX Conventional PC and, if we measure the overall dimensions; the ATX source occupies 8.5 times more volume than the HDPLEX 250W. It may be difficult to assume, therefore, we continue to see a comparison with a smartphone:

That’s when we really see how small it is, and it’s not much bigger than an iPhone, where font weight is the main determinant of size change, c i.e. approximately 2.5 times thicker than an iPhone. Despite this, he is able to give 250W a full load passively, thanks to an efficiency of 94% (80 Plus Titanium), added to the passive dissipation of the aluminum chassis and the internal dissipation by a PCB with 4 layers of copper.

Within it we would find a trainer rubycon of 150µFa solid trainer 9000µF, both with a long service life. Next to it we would find a 3-stage AC filter (2LC + 1 CLC), which helps eliminate electrical interference. Additionally, we have to add a flat unibody transformer which achieves exceptional consistency and at the same time eliminates vibration noise.

As for the GaN technology, it uses a total of 4 Automotive-grade GaN FETsas well as 4 ARX 1KV 8A TTR8MF chips and a 1% resistor to ensure minimum voltage deviation on the line.

Dual HDPLEX 500W

As a bonus, HDPLEX itself ensures that the source can be to sychronize with a second unitobtaining with this combination a total power of 500W. Thanks to this, you can, for example, connect the processor and the motherboard to a power supply and a graphics card to the second. Considering that each source of 250W is able to give 20A on 12V linewe see a fully usable combo in some setups.

And yes, surprisingly we will be able to place a Dedicated GPU through parameters 6+2 dual PCIe what the source suggests. We will finalize the specifications with the wiring which will include:

  • 1 x AC IEC C14 cable – Two ELR connectors (20 cm)
  • 1 x IEC C6 AC cable – Two ELR connectors (20 cm)
  • 1 time 24 pins (20+4 PIN) ATX power supply (25cm)
  • 1 time 8 PIN EPS CPU (4+4 PIN) Cord (45cm)
  • 1 time PCIE red connector with 2 sons 8 PIN (6+2 PIN) (45cm)
  • 1 x SATA cable branched into four SATA connectors (45 cm)
  • 1 time sync cord (45cm)

The fountain is now on sale at the price of $145/€142with an expected delivery date of June 2022 and with free shipping worldwide. Although the price may be very high, it is necessary to take into account the technological feat carried out and that it is indicated to an audience very nichesuch as computer owners Ultra-compact or passive HTPC.
