Final Fantasy VII Remake arrives today on PC; the Crisis Core will do so at the end of the year

In the early hours of today, during Final Fantasy VII’s 25th anniversary celebration, Square Enix announced that the remake of the title arrives on steam today and checked for the Steam Deck. Of course, like the PlayStation 5, this is only the first chapter, so the game is incomplete and it’s still unclear when it will be finished.

Perhaps most interesting of all is that at the end of the year, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 Reunionessentially a Remake of the Final Fantasy VII prequel it was exclusive to the PSP, a console that I had personally bought second-hand at the time to simply enjoy this game and then resell it. The game would be released on PC and PlayStation consoles.

Sephiroth - Final Fantasy VII Remake

With its mako-sucking reactors, the lifeblood of the planet, the Shinra Electricity and Power Company has practically conquered the world. Only a group of idealists known as the Avalanche resist their rule.

Cloud, an elite soldier turned mercenary, participates in an Operation Avalanche to destroy Midgar’s Mako #1 reactor.
The explosion turns the city into hell and Cloud has hallucinations of his nemesis, whom he thought was dead.

Thus begins, once again, the story that will define the destiny of an entire world.
