He was at the end of January when we discovered that all the games of dark soulsin its version for PC, had a vulnerability which operated at a full malware level and could pose a serious risk to anyone playing the game in the online mode. Due to this issue, FromSoftware has disabled the multiplayer capabilities of all their titles, and this is not the case so far, 4 months laterthat the company again mentioned the issue and indicated that it is currently restoring online servers, with Dark Souls 3 being the first of the games to bring back multiplayer capabilities.
“A new remote code execution vulnerability has been discovered that is severe in nature and easier to execute than previous vulnerabilities patched by Blue Sentinel,” the company disclosed in January. “We don’t believe this will extend beyond the person who worked on it, but the level of damage it can cause is severe, any code submitted may be executed. Blue Sentinel has not yet patched this vulnerability.”
“We are currently in the process of restoring the Dark Souls series online servers to PC,” FromSoftware said in an official statement to PCGamer.
“We plan to gradually restore online service for each game, bringing servers back for Dark Souls 3 once we have completed the work necessary to correct the issue. We will provide additional updates as soon as the restoration schedule is available. We would like to thank all of our players for your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.”
The company doesn’t really give specific dates, just stating that the servers will be reactivated”graduallyand only mentioning the most modern title, which is Dark Souls 3. At least if they officially talk about it, it is implied that server restoration should be coming soon.
