At the beginning of May, we learned of the launch of the Asus ROG Strix SQ7the first SSD that the company launches on the market, but only today we were able to know the specifications.
This way we now know that we are dealing with a controller based unit Phion E18 @ 12nm, which with some memory chips 3D FTA 176 layers manufactured by Micron, DDR4 memory for the cache, and an NVMe PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, we know that its performance will be up to 7000 MB/s regarding the sequential read speed, while the write speed will be up to 6000 MB/smaking it a premium unit in its segment.
Regarding the capacity, it seems that everything continues as before, which means that there would be only one model of 1TB capacity. The unit is otherwise cooled by an ultra-thin heatsink manufactured in graphenewhich allows it to be used on desktops, laptops, in addition to having full compatibility with the PlayStation 5 console. The company thus avoids offering a solution with a generous aluminum heatsink that can cause compatibility issues, and that’s because today every mid-range motherboard already includes its own aluminum heatsink for the SSD.
As usual, you can already know the specifications of the Asus ROG Strix SQ7, but not its availability and the price that will come to market.
