On May 23, during Computex, it is expected that among the products that will be presented amd there is the presentation in the company of three new chipsets, those for now known as AMD X670EAMD X670 and amd B650which will bring hundreds of motherboards equipped with the new AM5 socket to life.
The AMD X670E will be the high-end chip, a version “extreme” of the X670, which from what we know, does not appear to differ from the X670 chipset in terms of functionality or features. However, all X670E motherboards must offer PCI-Express 5.0 connectivity both for the GPU and to bring a new generation of M.2 NVMe SSDs to life, while X670-based motherboards can choose to use PCI-Express 4.0, so we could say it’s nothing more than a chip focused on improving Premium motherboards, which will include the most advanced connectivity, for all those who want to pay that extra thinking in the future, at least for faster SSDs.
In this way, the AMD X670E and the AMD X670 would be the same chipsetswhich is rumored to be essentially two AMD B650 chipsets (Promontory 21) in one package. Unfortunately, all the details surrounding the specification of the chipsets are unknown. We only know that they will continue to be manufactured by ASMedia.
