If you want to play now a Cyberpunk 2077 more polished, and you have a graphic that already seems slow, be aware that the modder “PotatoOfDoom” has released a mod with which you can use the technology AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 (AMD FSR 2.0) to dramatically increase performance.
Remember that the game only supports AMD FSR version 1.0, which implies lower visual quality and performance compared to the latest version of its rescaling technology.
This mod just works rival technology .dll replacement NVIDIA DLSS, replacing it with a custom one that enables AMD FSR 2.0 implementation. This implies that in the game you will have to enable NVIDIA DLSS technology to really run AMD technology, which is mandatory if you have moderately modest hardware, because Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that requires enough hardware to move freely.
According to its creator, its NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 obtained double performance using resizing technology, thus being able to run the game at approximately 45fps at 4K resolution.
This is a proof of concept to see if this mod is doable. You may encounter bugs!
This mod attempts to replace DLSS with FidelityFx Super Resolution 2.0. The mod is still in development, but the first results are already quite impressive: My GTX 1080 is able to run Cyberpunk in 4k with ~45 FPS, which is a 2x performance boost over native 4K performance, while having very minor impact on quality. Moreover, yes! this mod is compatible with any GPU from AMD, Intel and Nvidia that can handle Cyberpunk.
How it works?
FSR 2.0 and NVIDIA DLSS are temporary scalers and work (apart from a few minor differences) very similarly. This means that both systems need similar data to work. Fortunately, NVIDIA releases its DLSS implementation as a dynamic library (a .dll file). This allows us to simply replace the DLL in question with our own version capable of translating NVIDIA DLSS commands to FSR 2.0. API reimplementations like Wine or DXVK work the same way.
